The Rustic Market on 1st is Open

A new shopping destination opened in McCook, Nebraska, on February 1, 2025. "The Rustic Market on 1st," located at 210 West 1st Street, features an array of unique vendors, including a children's clothing boutique, antique furniture, and sports memorabilia, offering residents a vibrant shopping experience.

Owners Tammy and James Stevens are excited about their new venture. James’s job is what brought them here. Previously operating a vendor space at Plants by Ashley, the couple found themselves quickly outgrowing their small venue. “We outgrew our space over there immediately. It was nice, though, because it got us out of our comfort zone,” said Tammy.

The Stevens envision "The Rustic Market on 1st" as more than just a store; they aim to create a curated environment that benefits vendors and customers through the shared risk model. Tammy stated, “It's allowing people to run their own business within another business.”

The new store will showcase products from several local vendors, including Atteberrys, Gladiator Darts, Hilker Country Creations, A Bushel and A Peck, Bookmarks Boutique, and Garage Sale Maniacs. In addition to offering unique items, the market still has two vendor booths left ($100 & $135) and five bookcase spaces available for rent at $50 each. Tammy said, “It allows someone to try before they go all in, and we had a good time doing it.”

Tammy and James plan to continue their eBay business from the new location, leveraging online sales and engaging with the community in person. They are actively promoting "The Rustic Market on 1st" on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to attract vendors and customers.
