New Era for Kohl Auto Parts: Local Staple Joins Arnold Motor Supply, Doubles Inventory

McCook Neb.- A long-standing fixture in McCook's auto supply scene is shifting gears - but not disappearing. Kohl Auto Parts, located just off B Street at 908 W C St, has been acquired by Arnold Motor supply, promising expanded inventory and familiar faces.

Despite the change in ownership, Barry Kohl says there's no need for concern. The merchandise will remain largely the same - just more of it.

"We were aligned with them, Arnold Motor supplyl previously, as they were a supplier of ours, " Kohl explained. "But they're bringing in a lot of inventory - almost double what we had before."

For those worried about a shift in service or management, rest easy.

Kohl, who bought the business in 1992 when it was known as Mr. Automotive and rebranded it to Kohl Auto Parts in 1999, is still behind the counter.

"I primarily dealt with them for paint parts and things like that. They have been extremely helpful and very cordial in every instance I've worked with them," said local resident Dave Eaton.

The building itself has served McCook drivers for over 75 years. It originally opened as Sidles in the 1950s, transitioned to Mr. Automotive in the 1970s, and was purchased by Barry's father, Neal Kohl, in 1986.

With deep roots in the industry, the Kohl family name has long been tied to reliable automotive service in the region.

"We're honored to continue the legacy built by the Kohl family and to bring expanded products and support to the McCook area," said Eric Johnson, President and Managing Partner at Arnold Motor Supply. "Customers can expect the same great service with even more resources at their fingertips."
