McCOOK Neb. - As someone who tends to stick to routine, I usually order my groceries online, selecting ingredients for a rotating menu of about 20 meals that my kids will actually eat. Because of this, it took me some time to realize there was a new brand at Walmart. Here’s what I’ve discovered: Bettergoods, which launched in April 2024, offers a range of food items that extend beyond the usual choices found in Walmart’s established Great Value line..

As shoppers have increasingly noticed the emergence of Bettergoods on store shelves, the brand distinguishes itself with a more upscale presentation and diverse product range designed to appeal to modern dietary preferences. From plant-based foods and gluten-free options to specialty condiments and snacks, Bettergoods is engineered to cater to a variety of tastes and dietary needs.

Products from Bettergoods include:

- Plant-based foods: Such as oat milk, cheese alternatives, and macaroni and cheese.

- Gluten-free options: Featuring delicious oatmeal cookie bites.

- Other essentials: Ranging from ice cream and macarons to breads, spreads, chips, salsa, and seasonings.

According to a press release, Walmart's decision to launch this new brand comes amid rising consumer demand for high-quality, affordable food options. In a recent press release, Scott Morris, senior vice president of private brands, food and consumables at Walmart, stated, “Today’s customers expect more from the private brands they purchase – they want affordable, quality products to elevate their overall food experience.” He emphasized that Bettergoods represents a commitment to providing customers with unique culinary flavors at prices they can afford.

Reviews for Bettergoods have been notably positive, highlighting the quality and affordability of the products. Many customers have expressed satisfaction with their purchases, indicating a willingness to buy Bettergoods again even if some items weren’t their favorites.

The launch of Bettergoods also signifies a strategic shift for Walmart, which will continue to offer its Great Value brand alongside the new line. Great Value, a staple at Walmart for over 30 years, includes products manufactured by other companies, while Bettergoods aims to differentiate itself with unique offerings that are not simple alternatives to national brands.

Bettergoods items are priced primarily under $5, making them accessible options for budget-conscious shoppers. These products span various categories, including frozen meals, dairy, snacks, beverages, pasta, and more.

Walmart customers can explore the Bettergoods in stores and online, with select products available for curbside pickup and same-day delivery. As the brand continues to roll out its full product line, Walmart remains dedicated to democratizing access to quality and innovative foods that customers crave, all at Every Day Low Prices.

With the launch of Bettergoods, Walmart is not just introducing a new label; it is responding to changing consumer preferences, reinforcing its position as a leader in the retail grocery sector, and reaffirming its commitment to customer satisfaction.

While I have only begun to explore these new options I am interested to see how they go over in our rural area. Have you tried them?
