McCOOK Neb. - City Manager Nate Schnieder updated the council on the Sports Complex project, outlining significant progress. Legal review of procurement policies for the $1.5 million RCRP grant is underway, with a decision expected soon. Miller & Associates are finalizing design contracts for infrastructure, including water, sewer, and streets, with cost estimates to follow. Renderings from Mammoth Construction are anticipated by March 31st. The subdivision of the Walters property is moving forward with a series of Planning Commission and Council meetings in late March and April, aiming to finalize plats for the sports complex and commercial areas to expedite development and revenue generation. Mammoth's fundraising team is developing a proposal after a productive meeting with city officials. The city is also scheduling a meeting with the sports feasibility company to discuss project pro formas. Finally, Schnieder expressed disappointment that the college has decided not to proceed with their part of the project, emphasizing the city's extensive efforts to collaborate, saying “I'll keep it brief. The city of McCook has bent over backwards to try to work with the college. I'll leave it at that. “
