Platinum Pearls to Headline Hot Summer Nights This Thursday in Norris Park
McCOOK, Neb. — The sounds of summer will fill Norris Park this Thursday, July 10, as the Hot Summer Nights concert series welcomes The Platinum Pearls for an evening of live music, community connection, and summertime fun.
Presented by MNB Bank, the Hot Summer Nights series brings free, family-friendly concerts to the McCook community. Thursday’s event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a community meal served by Community Chest and root beer floats offered by Beautify McCook. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and settle in for a night of entertainment. In case of bad weather, the concert will move indoors to the historic Fox Theater.
Taking the stage for the first time at Hot Summer Nights, The Platinum Pearls are a dynamic three-piece band known for belting out platinum hits from platinum artists across the decades. Led by husband-and-wife duo Mike and Tracey Curtis, with Benjamin “Benjammin” Timmons on drums, the group plays an energetic mix of rock, pop, country, jazz, and soul. Their set list spans everything from Journey and Janis Joplin to Whitney Houston and Chris Stapleton, with crowd favorites like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” and “Piece of My Heart.”
Tracey Curtis, the band’s lead vocalist and keyboardist, says the group plays from the heart. “Music is therapy for us,” she shared. “We play to connect with people—to help them escape whatever trials they’re going through and just feel something good for a while.”
The Platinum Pearls have played across Nebraska and neighboring states, headlining events from the Nebraska State Fair to Music on the Bricks in North Platte. The band invites audience participation at every show, offering simple instruments for the crowd to join in the fun.
This is the Pearls’ first time at Hot Summer Nights, though they previously performed in McCook at Bash on the Hills. “We’re honored to be invited,” said Curtis. “Everywhere we go, we try to leave the audience smiling and singing along.”
