Southwest Nebraska Family Resource Center Announces Retirement of Director Kathy Haas

McCook Neb.- The Southwest Nebraska Family Resource Center (FRC) announces with great appreciation the retirement of Kathy Haas. With over 25 years dedicated to serving the community through human services, Kathy has made an indelible impact on the FRC and the families it supports.

During her tenure, Kathy has successfully managed numerous programs and transitions. She has played a key role in relocating the FRC, advocating for its mission within the community, and assisting hundreds of families across six counties in Southwest Nebraska. Programs she oversaw include the Clothing Exchange, Tree of Love, School Supply Giveaway, Clothing and Baby Items Giveaway, Toiletries Cupboard, Diaper Program, Assistive Resources, Child Abuse Prevention Resources, and more. Additionally, she advocated for the integration of the McCook Cares Bread and Chip Giveaway into the FRC's services.

“We are extremely grateful for Kathy’s years of service and commitment to the Family Resource Center,” said Kristi Huff, Board President. “As we move forward, we will strive to uphold the programs and organization that Kathy has built at the FRC.”

In lieu of a celebration, the Board has decided to recognize Kathy’s remarkable contributions and wish her a well-deserved and fulfilling retirement through a card shower. The Board acknowledges that Kathy’s departure marks a significant transition for the FRC. “To continue providing the highest level of support to the families we serve, we are undergoing a period of restructuring,” Kristi stated. “This change presents an opportunity to strengthen our programs, build upon the foundation Kathy helped create, and ensure that our mission continues to thrive. We will soon be accepting applications for a new Program Manager, and a new Program Assistant will be starting next week.”
