McCook Teacher Pleads Not Guilty

McCOOK, Neb. — A McCook Junior High School teacher has entered a not guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Court records identify the defendant as Deon J. Allen, listed on the McCook Public Schools website as an eighth-grade social studies teacher.

According to filings, the McCook Police Department issued a criminal citation on July 30, following a protective order granted the day before. The petition for that order included screenshots of alleged social media messages between a minor and Allen.

Allen appeared in Red Willow County Court on August 19, where he pleaded not guilty. An arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. on September 23 in Red Willow County Court.

The charge remains an allegation at this stage. Allen is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
