McCOOK Neb. - The Red Willow County Commissioners convened on Monday at 9 a.m. for their meeting. The Board of Equalization approved five applications for motor vehicle tax exemptions submitted by Hillcrest Nursing Home. During the meeting, Noxious Weed Control Superintendent Sonya Prentice presented her annual reports.

Following that, Visitors Bureau Director Carol Schlegel delivered her annual report, leading to the renewal of her contract for 2025. The vote resulted in a 2 to 1 decision, with Commissioner Ted Gans opposing the renewal. The contract for Fair Board Manager Jiles Bowman was renewed, while Brian Reynolds and Gail Rippe were reappointed to the Fair Board. Galen Perry was appointed to replace Chas Fritsche, with all terms set to expire on December 31, 2027.

The Board also reviewed findings from the FY 2023/2024 audit presented by Don Wilson, which noted a duplicate payment. Finally, Treasurer Dack presented a resolution to advertise delinquent taxes, which received unanimous approval from the Board. Although listed on the agenda, concerns from Steve Quigley regarding Road 719 at Drive 391 were not addressed as he was absent from the meeting. Gans adjourned the Board of Commissioners meeting at 1:57 p.m., concluding a session that lasted four hours and fifty-seven minutes.
