McCook, Neb. – The McCook City Council approved the final plat for the Walters First Edition, a new addition to the city. This plat includes the sports complex area and commercial lots. Infrastructure development, including street, water, sewer, and storm sewer, is planned for the area. Craig Bennett from Miller Associates presented details of the plat, highlighting the future land use designations for recreational, commercial, and multi-family development.
A significant step forward was taken with the approval of an agreement between the city and Mammoth Sports Construction (Mammoth) to construct the Gerald L. Walters Youth Sports Complex. The initial phase, Package A, focuses on dirt work and grading, including the 39.6-acre site and T Street access. The cost for this phase is approximately $900,000.
Representatives of Mammoth presented their plans, emphasizing their design-build approach and the project's timeline, with an estimated completion in the summer of 2026. The complex will feature baseball and softball fields, a soccer field that can dual-purpose as softball fields, and associated amenities.
