
Brigadier General (Ret.) Chris Spillman to Speak at St. Patrick School Veterans Day Program

McCOOK, Neb. — St. Patrick Catholic School will honor local veterans with its annual Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11, featuring Brigadier General (Ret.) Chris Spillman as the guest speaker.
A retired U.S. Army officer with nearly 38 years of active-duty service, General Spillman brings a lifetime of leadership, strategic insight, and dedication to national defense. His distinguished career spans from field commands overseas to high-level positions at the Pentagon, with extensive experience in air and missile defense, large-scale combat operations, and joint military strategy.
Today, General Spillman continues to serve his country by mentoring senior Army leaders through the Mission Command Training Program, where he helps guide corps and division staffs in planning and executing complex operations. His expertise focuses on preparing military leaders for real-world missions through joint and combined exercises that strengthen national and global readiness.
After retiring from active duty, Spillman held leadership roles in the private defense sector, including serving as Director of Strategy and Business Development for Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Northrop Grumman. He has also advised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense and supported the U.S. Missile Defense Agency as a consultant.
His military decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit with three oak leaf clusters.
General Spillman earned degrees from California State University, Saint Mary University, and the Air War College. Originally raised in Santa Rosa, California, he now resides in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife, Joanne. Together, they have four children and six grandchildren.
The St. Patrick School Veterans Day Program will feature musical performances by students, a color guard presentation, and special recognition for alumni and community members who have served.

The event is open to the public, and all are invited to attend in support of McCook’s veterans, students, and families as the community comes together to celebrate service and sacrifice.
