McCook, Neb. - The area’s live music scene is getting a fresh boost with Break the Bank, a new all-ages event coming to The Artbank this Saturday, July 12th at 6 PM. The evening promises a mix of live performances, skateboarding competitions, and community connection—plus free hot dogs while the last, courtesy of Renegade Removal.
Organized by Brigham and Devon, with creative support from Brigham’s wife Elise, who designed the event poster, Break the Bank reflects a grassroots effort to bring something different to McCook’s entertainment scene.
The night’s lineup includes a range of musical styles:
Cold Glock, a hardcore band from Lincoln, will introduce their blend of old-school and new-school hardcore metal to McCook audiences for the first time.
The Dinks, from Kearney, will bring their blues/punk sound.
DJ Rugburn, an experimental electronic artist from Lincoln, adds something unexpected to the mix.
And local favorite El Jefe (Vic) will round out the night, offering the familiar energy that’s made him a staple in the McCook music community.
The event also highlights McCook’s skateboarding culture. Tribe Skateshop from North Platte will be on-site with skate gear, and a skateboarding competition will feature a “Game of SKATE” and “Best Trick” contest with prizes. Renegade Removal will be grilling hot dogs for attendees at no charge.
Brigham emphasized that the event is meant to be welcoming to all ages. “No alcohol. It’s designed to be all-ages, because I expect there’s gonna be a lot of young people,” he said. The hope is to create a family-friendly space for people to enjoy live music and activities beyond the usual bar settings. All necessary permissions have been secured through the city and local law enforcement.
Admission is $5, with all proceeds benefiting The Artbank. Children 12 and under can attend for free.
Organizers encourage the community to come out, support local talent, and take part in a unique night of music, skating, and local collaboration in downtown McCook.
This was an awesome event. I would love to see more of it. An annual Break the Bank event like this would also be cool.
